Clearly I haven't had enough pain for one evening. After helping my mum recover a Word document, I feel the need to do a firmware upgrade on my ADSL modem. I could be gone a while...

I now own a house. Well, I now own a large mortgage anyway. But it's all good... 4x2 on 668sqm and not renting anymore. Woot! Pulling weeds out of the garden is still no fun, but at least it's better than pulling them out of someone else's garden.

Every Thursday morning an email goes out to every employee reminding them to do their timesheet. And every single time they have a little animated smiley grinning away as if it's the most fun thing that's ever happened. Those little bastards piss me off.

I had my professional development discussion at work on Friday, focussing on taking on the responsibilites of our soon-to-depart tech lead. Overall I'm very happy with the outcome.

The tech lead has been offered another job, and it looks like he's going to accept. I'm his logical successor, but given the uninspiring and exploitative nature of being a tech lead I don't think I really want the job.

Does it bug anyone else that you can't search for "C++" on Google? There's a new search engine - sensis.com.au - that's been advertising a bit on TV recently. So I tried them, and their top match for "C++" was AC Milan Official Site. Advertising a search engine on TV still seems a bit strange to me.
