Print Story My shrinking empire
Diary

I've been a tech-lead for two weeks, and already my empire is starting to crumble. Next Wednesday the team numbers drop to three, down from the lofty heights of six barely a year ago.

Here lies a toppled god
His fall was not a small one
We did but build his pedestal
A narrow and a tall one.

Inside: Shrinking team, dancing thing

I seem to be very busy but I don't actually do much. It's happening both at work and at home. Interesting.

ADSL is fast.

I need some furniture.

Nov 24 20:57:43 misato kernel: atkbd.c: Keyboard on isa0060/serio0 reports too many keys pressed.

Never seen that one before.

Clearly I haven't had enough pain for one evening. After helping my mum recover a Word document, I feel the need to do a firmware upgrade on my ADSL modem. I could be gone a while...

Print Story New house

I now own a house. Well, I now own a large mortgage anyway. But it's all good... 4x2 on 668sqm and not renting anymore. Woot! Pulling weeds out of the garden is still no fun, but at least it's better than pulling them out of someone else's garden.

Sometimes I post some lyrics here, but I don't know the words to the song that's in my head... doing just fine, it was only a kiss, it was only a kiss.

I never know what to write here. That's why it's always so boring. I almost wrote something interesting, but it's too controversial. Doesn't look like I'll achieve much today, but it's been interesting in any case. My house is a huge mess as I have a half-assed attempt at getting organise for the big move on Saturday. I need some boxes.

Inside: Bugs, more bugs, a horrible job, and ICQ

Every Thursday morning an email goes out to every employee reminding them to do their timesheet. And every single time they have a little animated smiley grinning away as if it's the most fun thing that's ever happened. Those little bastards piss me off.

Inside: Forums, dancesport, Tuesday beers, comedy SMS, moving house

The tech lead has been offered another job, and it looks like he's going to accept. I'm his logical successor, but given the uninspiring and exploitative nature of being a tech lead I don't think I really want the job.

Poll: Decide my employment future!

Does it bug anyone else that you can't search for "C++" on Google? There's a new search engine - sensis.com.au - that's been advertising a bit on TV recently. So I tried them, and their top match for "C++" was AC Milan Official Site. Advertising a search engine on TV still seems a bit strange to me.
